Scrubland fire extinguished

Firefighters have tackled a fire involving a large amount of scrubland in Walsall.

We were called at 6.30pm on Sunday (2 August) to Vernon Way in Bloxwich following reports of smoke coming from the area.

Four appliances attended the scene and found an area of scrubland measuring approximately 100 metres by 100 metres well alight.

Crews used two main jets to extinguish the fire.

The incident was then passed to colleagues from West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service.
