Man dies following flat fire

A man has sadly died following a flat fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

We were called to Beveridge Close, Meir, just before 8pm on Friday (12 January).

Crews from Hanley, Longton and Newcastle went to the scene with colleagues from Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet around 30 minutes later.

Sadly, a man in his 50s, was found dead inside.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, but we are not treating it as deliberate.
