Burton Fire Station is inviting the local community and residents of all ages to its fun-filled open day in June.

The event, which is free to attend, will take place on Saturday 17 June between 11am and 4pm at Burton Fire Station on Moor Street.

From rescue demonstrations, to seeing the fire appliances fleet, to fun fair rides, there is something for everyone.

The service’s aerial ladder platform, Unimog off-road vehicle, and other emergency vehicles will be showcased at the event, while firefighters will demonstrate rope rescues and extrication techniques that are used in road traffic collisions.

Children can also sign up to join the service’s Welephant Club and meet our trusty mascot.

And there will also be a recruitment stand where firefighters will be on hand to talk to attendees about career opportunities at the service, including becoming an on-call firefighter.

John Kitchener, Station Manager at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We’re all looking forward to welcoming the local community we serve to our station to enjoy our open day with us.

“There will be a wide range of activities and entertainment and it’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the work we do.

“All of the profits from the event will go directly to the Fire Fighters Charity. They’re an extremely worthwhile cause offering specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community.

“We cannot wait to welcome you all!”
