Large grass fire deemed accidental
A large grass fire measuring approximately 40 acres in High Offley has been deemed to have been caused accidentally.
We were called at 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 25 August) to land off Peggs Lane following reports of a fire.
Nine appliances, including two from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene and found multiple fields well alight.
Crews used main jets, hose reel jets and wildfire hoses to extinguish the fire.
Following an investigation, the cause of the fire has been deemed accidental.
Station Manager Dez Stoddart attended the scene. He said: “I would like to thank the local community for their support during this incident, including local farmers who helped us contain the fire.
“I would also like to thank the first crews on scene, who used effective techniques to prevent the fire reaching properties and vehicles nearby.
“I would urge everyone to take care in the countryside this summer and follow the advice on our website to ensure we keep Staffordshire safe.”
