Large derelict building fire extinguished

Firefighters have extinguished a large fire at a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews were called at 5.15am today (Friday 29 May) to High Street, Tunstall, following reports of smoke coming from a building.

Six appliances including our aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Police.

The fire was extinguished using the ALP, four main jets and two hose reel jets.  

Four kittens were also rescued from the building.

Crews remain at the scene dampening down hotspots and an investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.
