Firefighters rescue man and woman from vehicles stuck in flood water

Firefighters have helped rescue a man and a woman from vehicles stuck in flood water in Rugeley and Stafford.

Firstly, just after 11am this morning (Friday 20 October), crews from Rugeley and Stafford were called to Mill Lane, Great Haywood, and found a man in a van stuck in flood water.

The man was helped out of the van by crews and was not injured.

A couple of hours later, a crew from Rugeley, Staffordshire Police and Highways were called to Moor Lane, Rugeley, and found a woman in a black Mercedes stuck in flood water.

Shortly after, the road was closed.

The woman was helped out of the car by firefighters and she was not injured.

Both vehicles have since been recovered and we are asking motorists to avoid both areas and take alternate routes.
