Fire station to host open day for local community

We are hosting a fun-filled open day for the local community at Lichfield Community Fire Station.

On Saturday 8 June, between 11am and 4pm, the fire station will be opening its doors to residents of all ages.

From rescue demonstrations, to seeing the fire appliances fleet, to fun fair rides, there is something for everyone.

Specialist fire appliances, including our new aerial ladder platform, will be on show while firefighters will demonstrate rope rescues and extrication techniques that are used in road traffic collisions.

Children can also sign up to join the service’s Welephant Club and meet the trusty mascot in person.
Refreshments will be on offer, with all money raised from the day going to The Fire Fighters Charity.

There will also be a recruitment stand where firefighters will be on hand to talk to attendees about career opportunities at the service, including becoming an on-call firefighter.

Station Manager Leigh Richards, said: “We’re all looking forward to welcoming the local community we serve to our station to enjoy our open day with us.

“There will be a wide range of activities and entertainment and it’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the work we do and integrate with local people.

“All of the profits from the event will go directly to The Fire Fighters Charity. They’re an extremely worthwhile cause offering specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community.

“We cannot wait to welcome you all!”
