Fire station to host fun-filled family day for locals

Cannock Fire Station is inviting the local community and residents of all ages to its fun-filled open day in July.

The event, which is free to attend, will take place on Saturday 1 July between 11am and 4pm at Cannock Fire Station on Old Hednesford Road.

From meeting firefighters at Cannock, tours around the breathing apparatus training house, seeing live demonstrations, to fun fair rides, there is something for everyone.

The service’s fire appliances, Unimog off-road vehicle, and other emergency vehicles will be showcased at the event, including the brand-new drone capability. Firefighters will demonstrate animal rescues and extrication techniques that are used in road traffic collisions.

Children can also sign up to join the service’s Welephant Club and meet the trusty mascot.

There will also be a variety of stalls to visit (from ice cream to free NHS health checks), a raffle to get involved in, a specialist animal rescue display to enjoy and much more.

Damian Armstrong, Station Manager at Cannock Fire Station, said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting and welcoming members of the public, my team can’t wait to show the public how we prepare and respond to emergencies. There will be a wide range of activities and entertainment including health and fire safety advice.

“Any proceeds made from the event will go directly to The Fire Fighters Charity who will also be assisting the creation of a mental health wellbeing area at our station. The charity is an extremely worthwhile cause offering national specialist, lifelong support for members of the fire services community.

“Please visit their website to find out more. We cannot wait to welcome you all.”

Please note parking is not available on site, aside from accessible parking for blue badge holders at the rear of the fire station. Please use designated parking at Cannock Chase Children’s Centre, Cannock Road, Cannock, WS11 5BU.
