Fire station gears up to host fun-filled family day
We are gearing up to host a fun-filled family open day at Rugeley Community Fire Station next month.
On 13 April, between 11am and 4pm, the fire station will be opening its doors to welcome attendees of all ages for the day.
From meeting local firefighters and seeing training activities to fun fair rides, there is something for everyone.
Specialist fire appliances, including our new aerial ladder platform, will also be showcased at this free event.
Children can also sign up to join the service’s Welephant Club and meet the trusty mascot in person.
Refreshments will be on offer, with all money raised from the day going to The Fire Fighters Charity, as well as an Easter treasure hunt around the town.
We have come up with questions where residents will need to work out the businesses from the clues given.
The questions can be found on the Open Days section of our website and will need to be completed before the fun day. The first 50 people to return the completed form at the event will win a prize.
Station Manager Sarah Smith said: “We’re really looking forward to being at the community day to give the public an insight into what we do.
“There will be a range of activities to take part in and there will be an opportunity to find out more about becoming an on-call firefighter with firefighters on hand to provide information and encourage those who have never considered the role to find out more.
“We’ll also be reminding communities of how to keep safe in their homes and test their smoke alarms so that we hopefully continue to reduce the number of instances of house fires across the county.
“All of the profits will go directly to the Fire Fighters Charity. We are proud to support their mission to offer specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community.”
