Fire station gearing up to host open day
Crews from Leek Community Fire Station are inviting local residents of all ages to attended an open day next month.
The event, which is free to attend, will take place on Saturday 2 September between 11am and 4pm, at the station on Springfield Road.
From watching rescue demonstrations, to exploring our fire appliances, and taking part in an inflatable assault course, there is something for everyone.
There will also be a recruitment stand where firefighters will be on hand to talk to attendees about career opportunities within the service and you can take part in our job related tests.
Children can meet our mascots, Welephant and Blaze Bear, who will be hosting a treasure hunt and giveaways.
There will be a bouncy castle and penalty shoot-out hosted by Port Vale FC to enjoy too!
Refreshments will be on offer, including a BBQ and ice cream van, plus raffles and a tombola, with all money raised during the event going to The Fire Fighter’s Charity.
Partner agencies including Staffordshire Police, Blood Bikes and West Midlands Ambulance Service will also be in attendance.
Community Engagement Officer, Adam Brunt, said, “We are really looking forward to welcoming the local community to our station to enjoy our open day!
“There will be a range of activities to take part in and it’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the work our firefighters and staff do.
“All of the profits will go directly to the Fire Fighters Charity. We are proud to support their mission to offer specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community.”
