Fire risk assessment reduces impact of factory fire
Firefighters have praised a local business whose fire risk assessment played a vital part in recognising potential risk and reduced the spread of fire during a recent incident.
We were called at 5.20pm on Monday 19 October to a factory on Fairway in Bridgtown, Cannock, following reports of smoke coming from a building.
Three appliances attended the scene and crews extinguished a small fire.
Simon Emsley, Fire Protect Manager, said: "This business had a detailed and up-to-date fire risk assessment, this helped the business recognise potential fire related risks and take practical steps to mitigate them. As a result, the impact to the business was significantly reduced, helping reduce damage and disruption.
"Following the incident, the responsible person has now reviewed the fire risk assessment and implemented a simple control measure which is intended to further protect the premises from the effect of fire"
"A fire risk assessment is not only a legal requirement, but also one of the best ways to protect your business from the impact of fire.
"I would like to remind all business owners to review their fire risk assessment regularly and keep it updated."
