Fire crews rescue man stuck in flood water

We are reminding drivers to take extra care on the roads after we rescued a man who was trapped inside a van in Stafford.

Crews from Stafford and Penkridge went to Dale Lane, Haughton, just after 12.30pm this afternoon (22 February).

The man was trapped in the vehicle after going into flood water. We managed to bring him to safety without injury.

A road closure is still in place from Dale Lane to Long Lane, Haughton.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve responded to lots of different incidents where people had become stuck in their vehicles in flood water across Staffordshire.

If there’s flood water on the road, try and find another route which is safer and don’t try to drive through it.

By driving through flood water, you could put yourself and others in danger. It could also cause severe damage to your vehicle and lead to expensive costs for your car to be repaired.
