Fire crews help lorry driver out of cab in M6 crash

Fire crews have assisted a lorry driver out of his cab using specialist equipment following a crash on the M6 this morning.

Firefighters were called to the M6 northbound between junctions 12 and 13 at around 5.25am today (Wednesday 23 February) following reports of a two-vehicle collision.

Crews from Cannock and Penkridge attended as did Highways, paramedics and officers from Staffordshire Police.

On arrival, crews found a HGV lorry and a recovery truck involved in a collision.

Crews extricated a man from the HGV lorry using hydraulic cutting equipment.

He was conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service.

Crews left the scene at around 7.25am.

The incident has been left in the care of Highways and police.
