Fire crews extinguish fire at three-story derelict building

We have extinguished a fire at a three-storey derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday (Sunday 7 April).

Crews went to Newcastle Street, Burslem, just before 4.30pm and found a derelict building well-alight.

Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire and a man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Fire investigators later deemed the fire to be caused accidentally.

Road closures remain in place on Newcastle Street between Dale Street and Newport Street and we are advising motorists to avoid the area and look for alternate routes.
