Dog rescued from house fire in Burntwood

Crews rescued a dog from a large house fire in Burntwood recently.

We were called at 10.35pm on Sunday (26 April) to a house on Queen Street following reports of smoke coming from the first floor of a property.

Three appliances attended the scene, and all occupants had got out of the house and were waiting outside when we arrived.

The fire was extinguished and nobody was reported injured.

Crews rescued a dog from the property and gave it oxygen therapy before it was taken to a vet for precautionary checks.

Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.

Watch Manager Richard Rudge, attended the scene. He said: “The occupants of the house did the right thing by immediately getting out of the house and waiting outside for us.

“You should never try and tackle house fires yourself or return to collect valuables.

“Remember, get out, stay out, and call 999.”
