Deliberate fire extinguished at partially built home

We have extinguished a deliberate fire which was started at a house under construction on a worksite in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Crews from Hanley and Newcastle went to the scene on Wilmot Drive at 1.30am on Tuesday (19 December) following reports of a fire.

Extensive fire damage was caused to the building, leading to the roof and first floor collapsing.

Thankfully, no one was injured and the fire was extinguished.

An inspection into the cause later determined the fire was started deliberately. Our colleagues from Staffordshire Police are investigating.
