Crews visit local residents following wildfire

Firefighters spent a day visiting local residents in Hednesford following a large wildfire last week.

On Sunday 16 August, eleven crews worked to battle a wildfire at Hednesford Hills which measured approximately three-and-a-half-acres.

The fire was extinguished using main jets and wildfire hoses and thankfully nobody was reported injured.

The cause of the fire was deemed to be deliberate and colleagues from Staffordshire Police are investigating.

Prevent Team Delivery Lead, Mark Downes, said: “We have worked alongside police colleagues to visit local people, listen to any concerns they may have and share safety advice.

“We gave people specific advice on how to prevent accidental fires and shared key reporting methods for anyone who suspects a deliberate fire might have been started in their area.

“I would like to thank the local community for all of their support during this demanding summer season.

“We will continue to work alongside local partners to make Staffordshire a safe place to live and work.”
