Crews tackle residential building fire

Crews have extinguished a fire inside a residential building in Tamworth.

At 9.09am this morning (6 June), we were called to Stretton Street in Glascote following reports of smoke and flames coming from a building.

Firefighters from Tamworth and Lichfield were sent to the scene. Within 30 minutes, the fire had been extinguished using hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.

All of the people inside the building had been evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Crews stayed at the scene to ventilate excess smoke which was trapped inside the building.

A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is underway with colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
