Crews tackle large scrap fire

Firefighters have extinguished a large fire involving scrap metal in Stoke-on-Trent.

We were called at 3.23am yesterday (Tuesday 16 June) to Chemical Lane following reports of a fire.

Five fire appliances, two water carriers and the command support vehicle attended the scene. Firefighters used specialist firefighting foam and a number of main jets to extinguish the fire.

A high-volume pump was also used to supply water.

Thankfully, nobody was reported injured.

Crews left the scene at 11pm yesterday (Tuesday 16 June) but will be returning today (Wednesday 17 June) for a reinspection.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.

We would like to thank local businesses for their patience and co-operation whilst we dealt with the incident.
