Crews tackle large fire involving hay and machinery

Firefighters have tackled a fire in Lichfield which involved a large amount of hay and a hay baler.

We were called at 11am on Sunday (18 October) to a field off Broad Lane, Whittington Hurst, following reports of a fire.

Five appliances attended the scene and found an area of land approximately measuring 20 metres by 30 metres well alight.

Crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and thankfully nobody was reported injured.

Firefighters remained at the scene overnight and yesterday (Monday 19 October) to monitor and extinguish any hotspots.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.
