Crews tackle building fire
Crews tackle building fire
We are still working at the scene of a building fire in Stoke-on-Trent.
We were called at 12.40am this morning (Thursday 9 July) to Stafford Street in Hanley following reports of a fire in progress on the first floor of a building.
A total of six crews and two aerial ladder platforms attended the fire, at its peak, along with a fire command vehicle.
The aerial ladder platforms were used to remove roof tiles from the building to enable firefighters to tackle the blaze.
Main jets and hose-reel jets were also in use.
The majority of the fire is now out, and number of crews at the scene has been reduced to three, with one aerial ladder still in use. A building inspector is also at the scene.
Colleagues from Staffordshire Police have assisted with road closures and a cordon currently remains in place, though this is expected to be lifted in the coming hours.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.
