Crews tackle accidental house fire in Meir

Firefighters have extinguished an accidental house fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews were called at 9.45pm on Tuesday (16 June) to a house on Farmwood Close in Meir following reports of a fire.

Three appliances attended the scene and found a fire on the first floor of the property.

Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and ventilated the property.

Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service treated a man at the scene for smoke inhalation. He did not require hospital treatment.

The cause was deemed to be accidental, by clothes being left on a cooker.

Crews left the scene at 12.30am on Wednesday (17 June).
