Crews rescue 23-year-old horse from ditch

Crews have rescued a 23-year-old horse which had got stuck in a ditch in Wetley Rocks.

We were called at 4.45pm on Monday (5 October) to Rownall Road following reports of a trapped horse.

Crews worked to remove branches from around the horse, called Snowy, before putting straps around him to lift him from the ditch.

With the help of two local residents who operated a telehandler, Snowy was moved into a nearby field to rest.

After crews had left the scene, Snowy was closely monitored by the vet and was able walk himself back into his stable to rest and recover following the ordeal.
