Crews extinguish lorry fire containing animal food

We have extinguished a lorry fire containing a quantity of animal food in East Staffordshire.

Crews from Abbots Bromley, Stafford and Uttoxeter were called to Loxley Lane just after 4.20am on Saturday (8 July) after a lorry trailer had caught fire.

Firefighters used hose reel jets and main jets to tackle the blaze, which was extinguished by 9am.

Luckily, the lorry driver had detached the trailer which stopped the fire from spreading throughout the vehicle.

No one was injured.

After the lorry was extinguished and recovered, our colleagues from Staffordshire Police re-opened the road.

We inspected the cause and later deemed it to be accidental, before leaving the area at 12.35pm.
