Firefighters have extinguished a large fire at a scrapyard in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

We were called at 2.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 April) to Lime Kiln Lane, Kidsgrove, following reports of a fire.

Six appliances attended the scene and found a large fire involving one outbuilding and multiple vehicles.

The fire was extinguished using hose reel jets, including larger main jets, and crews rescued 29 cows from the fire.

One person received treatment at the scene by paramedics after suffering smoke inhalation.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.

Crews left the scene just before 10pm.
