Crews extinguish bottle kiln fire

Firefighters have worked to tackle a fire which involved a bottle kiln in Stoke-on-Trent.

We were called at 8.50pm yesterday (Thursday 20 August) to Commerce Street in Longton following reports of a fire.

Three appliances attended the scene and found a fire inside a former bottle kiln.

The fire was extinguished using two hose reel jets and thankfully nobody was reported injured.

The cause of the fire has deemed to be deliberate and the incident has been left with colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
