Crews attend house fire in Tunstall

Firefighters were called to a residential property in Tunstall on Saturday (5 February) following reports of a house fire.

At 1.45pm, crews from Hanley, Sandyford and Burslem attended the property off Roundwell Street which was emitting smoke upon their arrival.

One person was rescued from the smoke-logged property whilst crews worked to extinguish the flames.

A woman was administered oxygen therapy at the scene and treated for smoke inhalation and burns.

Two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the blaze at 2.55pm.

Initial crews made the area safe and left the scene five minutes later. One appliance stayed in attendance whilst an investigation was conducted.

Staffordshire Police attended the incident alongside a fire investigator who later deemed the ignition to be accidental - believed to be as a result of a cigarette flame spreading to the surrounding furniture.
