Crews attend electrical substation blaze in Stoke-on-Trent

We were called to a business premises on Cobridge Road, Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent at about 6.30am today (Friday 4 June).

An on-site electrical substation had caught fire. Western Power were informed and crews from Hanley, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Longton attended. Two breathing apparatus, a dry powder extinguisher and electrical gloves were used to tackle the blaze.

Staffordshire Police were also requested to attend to manage road closures around the scene.

By 7.20am a crew from Western Power had isolated the main electrical supply so fire crews could enter the area to extinguish the blaze with hoses.

The blaze was extinguished by about 9.15am and the scene was left with Western Power by 10.30am to monitor the temperature of the substation. The ignition was believed to be accidental.
