Firefighter tackling flames with hose

Firefighters have extinguished an oil refinery fire at an industrial estate in Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews from Burslem, Hanley, Newcastle and Sandyford were called just after 12am on Saturday (5 August) to an industrial estate on Sneyd Hill, Burslem.

On arrival, crews found a 30 foot oil refinery installation well-alight. They used main jets to extinguish the fire by 1.50am.

The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental as a result of contaminated insulation following industrial cleaning.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

Crews left the scene just before 11.20am.
