Controlled burn spreads to van and storage containers

We are reminding people not to burn waste after a fire spread to a van and a number of storage containers in Dilhorne.

We were called at 3.55pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 July) to Tickhill Lane following reports that a van was well alight.

Three appliances attended the scene and found a controlled burn had become out of control and spread to a van.

The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet and thankfully nobody was reported injured.

Station Manager Ant Ball attended the scene. He said: “We gave safety advice to the occupiers at this incident, reminding them that small fires can quickly become out of control, especially in the warm weather.

“We do not recommend burning waste in the garden for this reason and ask that people take rubbish to the tip instead.”
