Cat-astrophe avoided as firefighters rescue beloved pet Alfie

Crews have rescued a cat trapped in a tiny gap between two garages in Stoke-on-Trent.

Firefighters went to a home in Trentham just after 3.10pm on Sunday (20 September).

Alfie the cat had become sandwiched in a six-inch gap.

The homeowner called us after hearing the former rescue cat’s meows and firefighters from Longton Community Fire Station removed brickwork to free him.

Alfie’s owner Tracey, who lives nearby, said: “A massive heartfelt thank you to the incredible firefighters from Longton.

“I am eternally grateful for everything you did for Alfie. You are all amazing.”

Alfie is now safely back home, having counted his remaining lives, and thankfully has no visible signs of injury.
