Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service are now promoting OFQUAL accredited Fire Safety courses which offer lifelong qualification (subject to CPD).

Available courses

1 day

£120 per person + VAT (max 12 students per course)

A national award that will satisfy the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid. All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organization with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

L1 - £75 per person
L2 - £150 per person
L3 - £225 per person

L1 - Half a days training providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help.

L2 - This one-day course covers the content of the Level 1 course but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

L3 - This two-day course covers the content of both the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications but is aimed at trainer/assessors and/or supervisor level within the workplace.

3 days - £245 per person + VAT - max of 12 students per course.

This is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. This is an Ofqual approved course. All successful students will be issued with a First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate lasting for 3 years.

This FAW course covers all aspects of basic life support including CPR, bleeding, unconsciousness, choking, head injuries, sprains and strains and a vast range of First Aid conditions that you may experience in the workplace.

1/2 day

Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year. A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it.

This very practical course will enable your learners to use the AED competently and with confidence. Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED but it also includes vital training in basic life support including resuscitation.

Half day

£100 per person + VAT

You will, no doubt, be well aware of the potentially devastating effects of fires in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage to property and the environment, and to the business continuity. You may also be aware that it is believed that most fires are preventable.

The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training.

This course is designed for all employees as an introduction to fire awareness and is an excellent ingredient in the induction programme of new employees. It deals with how fires can occur and what to do in the event of a fire. The qualification also provides a foundation for those employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc).

Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 1 qualification.

1 Day

£200 per person + VAT

This course is designed for employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.)

Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 qualification.

£100 per person + VAT

Suitable for members of staff who will be assisting with the evacuation of the premises and reporting more experienced members of staff that have a greater overall responsibility for fire safety

By the end of the course, delegates will have:

  • A greater awareness of the dangers of fire and smoke
  • The ability to identify individual classes of fire and select an appropriate extinguisher to tackle it, if it is safe to do so
  • The ability to recognise potential fire hazards and the appropriate actions to rectify them
  • An understanding of the importance of regular fire drills and recognition of fire service best practice
  • An understanding of the various methods of evacuation and accounting and determine the best method for their workplace
  • Assisting and communicating in an emergency situation
  • Understanding the Legal Stuff

£75 per person + VAT

Suitable for all staff members and forms the basic requirement to meet the current legislation requirement, the staff receive fire safety training.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understanding the fire triangle
  • What to do when hearing the fire alarm
  • What to do if you discover a fire
  • How to respond and locate Emergency Exits, Escape Routes
  • Understanding the evacuation process
  • The does and don’ts in an emergency situation

£395 for 6 people or £595 for 6 people to undertake the Train the Trainer qualification
