Residents to return to flats following fire in Lichfield

Residents of Ridware House in Lichfield can now return to their flats following a fire last month.

The fire on Hobs Road was reported to emergency services just after 1pm on 12 November.

As a result of fire damage and fire safety compromises, specifically to the fire alarm system, integral fire doors and the communal stairwell, the building was evacuated for the safety of residents.

The fire service continues to work with Lichfield District Council, who arranged emergency accommodation for residents of the 32 flats.

Glynn Luznyj, Director of Response for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Residents can now return but there is still significant work that need to take place to ensure the block is fully compliant with fire safety standards.”
