Firefighters tackle blaze at stables in Ipstones

Firefighters from Leek and Cheadle have been tackling a blaze in Ipstones this afternoon (Thursday 11 February).

We were called to Phoenix Stables at Bottom Lane Farm, on Bottom Lane, at about 1.10pm today due to a blaze which had damaged a stable block.

A generator shed had caught fire which spread to the wooden stables next door. A member of the public had spotted the incident and called it in using the ‘what3words’ app so the control centre could locate the incident.

Two crews from Leek and a water carrier from Cheadle were mobilised. Using three hose reel jets they had the fire under control by 2pm and dampening down began to take place.

By 2.35pm it was deemed the fire had been an accidental ignition.
