Five appliances and two specialist units were called to a hazardous materials incident at commercial premises in Knighton today (Tuesday, November 27).
We were called at 13.31 to reports of a chemical leak at the site on Flashbrook Road. Crews from Stafford, Gnosall, Stone, Sandyford and Hanley attended along with the decontamination unit from Sandyford and the Environment Unit from Hanley.
Eight people were treated by colleagues from the ambulance service but all were subsequently discharged at the scene.
Two Firefighters and two members of the ambulance service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) wearing gas-tight suits are inspecting the affected area. Firefighters are working with employees of the company to ensure it can carry on with its business as soon as possible.
