Service recruiting on call firefighters

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting on-call firefighters for Rugeley, Cannock and Gnosall Community Fire Stations.

To be a retained firefighter you need to have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills – you will need to attend an initial training course at our headquarters in Stone, along with additional courses to enhance your skills to be able to use cutting equipment and breathing apparatus.

Applicants need to be over the age of 18 and must live or work within five minutes of the station; so they can respond to emergency incidents quickly.

The Service is inviting those interested in finding out more about becoming a retained firefighter to the following drop-in sessions:

  • Rugeley Community Fire Station – Friday, September 7, between 4pm and 6pm and Monday, September 10, between 6pm and 8pm 
  • Cannock Community Fire Station – Wednesday, September 12, between 6pm and 8pm
  • Gnosall Community Fire Station – Tuesday, September 11, between 2pm and 6pm

Sarah Smith, Retained Support Officer, said: “We’re looking for people who want to make a valuable and worthwhile contribution to their local community.
