Retained firefighters at Longnor
The Service is holding recruitment days at Longnor Community Fire Station, on Buxton Road, on Saturday January 27, 10-12noon and Tuesday January 30, 7pm-9pm.
Being a retained firefighter is a great way to give something back to the community at the same time as supplementing your income. On call firefighters receive the same high level of training as their full time colleagues and attend incidents ranging from fires to floods and road traffic collisions. Enthusiasm and motivation are key qualities that we will be looking for as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
The events give anyone interested in learning more about becoming a retained firefighter a chance to visit the station, speak to the crew and try their hand at some of the entry tests.
It also gives residents the opportunity to learn more about what being a retained firefighter actually entails.
Retained Support Officer Kevin McLintock said: “We are keen to hear from people who want to join our first class service and to play an integral role in keeping the communities where they live or work safe.
