Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service will once again be hosting its yearly conference on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Best Western Moathouse Hotel, Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent.
This year’s event focuses on the contribution women make to managing change. In the year that celebrates the Representation of the People Act centenary, it would be remiss of us not to weave the changes that have happened into our celebrations. As a fire and rescue service we have been nationally recognised for our Maternity Policy by the Equality and Human Rights Commission and we have been recognised in the media by both the Sunday Times Top 50 Employers of Women and the Financial Mail for our representation of women in our Board Room.
There will be opportunities to network with colleagues from a range of private sector, public sector, charity organisations and volunteers.
This year’s conference is proud to announce that presenter and historian Tessa Dunlop, who is best known for her work on the BBC Two Bafta-winning series Coast, will be presenting at the conference. Tessa is also well renowned for her historical literary works with a recent Times Bestseller ‘The Century Girls’.
Nazir Afzal OBE, Former Chief Crown Prosecutor for North West England will be speaking about his 'Hidden in Plain Sight' presentation that will give an insight into the criminal justice system.
Managing Director of Synectics Solutions, Carol Shanahan is involved in various community initiatives including the Holiday Hunger programme.
Broadcaster, presenter and CEO of Media Mouth, Susan Hanks will also be speaking at the conference. She will laugh with you, share stories that will inspire you and remind you that you can always look on the bright side of life.
Places are limited so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
The cost of the conference is £45 and £10 of this will be donated to the Firefighters Charity.
