Burton residents invited to be prepared for flooding event
Flooding is one of the highest risks to people and properties in the UK so being prepared is essential.
Experts from Staffordshire Prepared will be in Burton Market Square on Friday 20 April from 10am to 2pm to talk to locals about how they can be flood prepared. They will offer help and advice on how residents can check their flood risk, prepare a personal flood plan, what vital items to keep in an emergency grab bag and much more.
Defences along the River Trent protect Burton from a major flood event but it is impossible to eliminate the risk entirely. Surface water and other flooding could occur behind a flood defence so it is vital to know the flood risk of your area.
In Burton, 11,691 properties are located in a flood risk area, but only 6% of these are fully signed up to the Flood Warning Service. Staffordshire Prepared want to ensure as many people as possible are prepared for when floods happen.
