Staff Awards
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is providing people living and working in the County with a really excellent opportunity to put good intentions to work and think about people that may have made a difference to their lives from the Fire and Rescue Service. It might be people who have spoken to your class at school, organised your children in a Student Firefighter project, come round to your home to help make it safer or given you good advice. You might even have had need to call on the fire service for an emergency and perhaps our Control staff kept you calm on the telephone!

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has launched their first ever staff awards aimed at the unsung frontline and support staff who work to help keep Staffordshire safe, 365 days a year, seven days a week.

One of the key categories in the 2008 Awards is for the Fire and Rescue Service Professional of the Year, and members of the public are invited to nominate both individuals and groups/teams from the Fire and Rescue Service. Entries are open until 31st January 2008 and a formal Award ceremony will be held in March. Leaflets promoting the Awards will be circulated across the County through fire stations and other public places.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is looking for nominations from people who have been affected positively by the actions of staff working for the Service - it could be a single occasion or over a period of time - it might have been over the last twelve months or it could be happening now!

As long as the activity took place between January 1st 2007 and January 31st 2008 the person or team can be entered.

It might be a front line firefighter, a risk reduction technician or someone who has undertaken a talk or delivered a training course - it could be a retained fire fighter that juggles his full time job with emergency call outs to the local community.

Alan Doig, Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service commented: “Delivering an excellent service to the people living and working in Staffordshire depends on the commitment and professionalism of our staff. We have launched these Awards to help recognise the many outstanding contributions by staff members that help make Staffordshire a safer place - all day, every day. I would urge you to have a think and nominate someone or a team that has made a difference to you or your family and deserves to be recognised!”

The closing date for nominations was 31st January 2008, nominations are now closed
