Q. When did the Act come into force?
A. The general rule of a person's right to access information came into force on 1st January 2005. We have adopted a publication scheme which can be found here.

Q. How much will it cost me.
A. In most cases information will be provided free of charge, however if charges do apply a fees notice will be sent prior to the release of any information.

Q. Does the Act apply to records created from the 1st January 2005?
A. No, the Act is fully retrospective, which means information held by the Authority prior to this date is applicable under the Act.

Q. Can I request personal information held about me?
A. No, personal information is exempt under the FOI and will continue to be dealt with under the provision of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Q Who ensures that Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is complying with provisions made under the Act?
A. The Information Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that all public authorities comply with the Act.
