Electric Blanket Campaign

The autumn nights will soon be drawing in and it will be time again to dig out your electric blanket – but just how safe is it?

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service along with Trading Standards will again be testing electric blankets free of charge in the County and they’re urging local residents to take advantage of this by visiting one of the testing centres in the area.

Any electric blankets that fail the testing will not be handed back, but those aged over 60 and living in Staffordshire will be offered a brand new single or double under blanket as a replacement.

Testing will take place at the following venues click here.

Free Fire Service Fun Day!

Families are promised a fun filled action packed day at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Open Day event!

The bi-annual Open Day will be held at the Service’s Headquarters site on Saturday 13th September from 12.30pm - 4.30pm. Entry is free and there will be the opportunity to look at the engines, see chip pan demonstrations, tour the control room where the 999 calls are taken, watch car crash extrication demonstrations and even try on Firefighter’s breathing apparatus!

New to this year’s event is Ellie the West Midlands Fire Service dog who searches for clues in suspicious fires and the Territorial Army will also be coming with their climbing wall. As always the Service’s mascot Welephant will be around to entertain the children and there will also be raffles and tombolas with all proceeds going to The Firefighters Charity.

Representatives from partner agencies will also be attending the event including Crimestoppers, Community First Responders, the Red Cross, Trading Standards the Territorial Army and many more.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters is located off the A34 at Pirehill, Stone, Staffordshire, ST15 0BS. Free parking will be available on the day.
