| |Start of content| When someone calls 999 and asks for help from the Fire Service the first point of contact is with the fire control operators
who will mobilise the fire crews.
As a member of the fire control team you will deal with a range of emergencies from house fires to road traffic collisions.
By accepting calls from the public and other sources you will support the firefighters at incidents by managing the resources
and equipment. You will also be pro-active in the promotion of home safety awareness and other community based initiatives
such as hoax call reduction
This job is demanding but rewarding and you will be given comprehensive and thorough training. Fire control provides a service 24 hours a day. Seven days a week, every day of the year, you work on a shift system which will include nights, weekends and public holidays.
