Fire Safety Awareness Day At New Marina

|Start of content|
Feb 12, 2008

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are holding a Fire Safety Awareness Event next week to promote fire safety to members of the public who either live or spend their leisure time on Staffordshire’s canals.

The event will be held at the new marina on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Great Haywood on Saturday 23 February.   The event is designed to increase fire safety awareness amongst communities living on and using narrow boats and pleasure craft.  Firefighters from Stafford will be at the event offering advice, handing out leaflets and providing fire risk checks on request.

Mick Kennelly Assistant Area Commander comments “Our statistics tell us that there is a growing community of people who are spending an increasing amount of time on boats across our network of canals in the Stafford area.  Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to helping the whole community stay safe from fire, where ever they choose to live or spend their time.”
