Teenagers from high schools around Tamworth (see notes to editors) are to be awarded next week after successfully completing a 12 week Student Firefighter course.
The group of 12 teenagers, who are all in year 9, will be presented with a certificate by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Bob Russell at a passing out parade which will take place at Lichfield Fire Station at 12pm on Wednesday 9th December.
All of the students have attended the course at Tamworth Fire Station once a week over the last 12 weeks where they have learnt training and squad drills, road traffic collision extrication procedures, hose running and pumping, first aid and fire safety in the home.
"The course has been a fantastic experience which has bought out the best in all of the young people. They have all really enjoyed their time with us on station and we are really proud of their achievements."
