A call was received at 12.10am this morning reporting a fire at a building on Newcastle Street in Burslem.
"The basement was mildly smoke logged but no structural damage was caused to the building as a result of the fire."

Fire and rescue crews from Hanley, Longton and Burslem attended the incident which involved a fire in the basement of a derelict shop. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using one hose reel jet.
Firefighters left the scene at 01.11am. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
