Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Business Support Team (BST) is set to deliver a workshop as part of a yearly business event.

“Our support can range across a spectrum of industries and be catered to different sized companies. From helping businesses when they start up, guiding them through the various legislative requirements to make sure fire safety is business as usual, to helping established companies with continuity plans and staff training, right through to helping businesses pick up the pieces after an incident. Sadly, for a large number of companies this can often be too little too late and they simply can’t recover from the huge financial implications of a fire."

The three-day Staffordshire Business Festival event runs between Tuesday 7 November and Thursday 9 November at JCB in Rocester, Uttoxeter Racecourse and Keele University, and has been organised by the Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce.

As part of the Business Support element of the festival the Service’s BST will be on hand to explain businesses responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005 and give an overview of the services they offer.

The Team can provide fire safety support in a number of formats, ranging from proactive advice, support at fire incidents and also post incident support during the recovery process. Over recent years the team has worked with hundreds of local companies and organisations.

Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce have organised the free event which has three main objectives; to engage companies, organisations and the business communities within and across Staffordshire; to showcase the products, services and talent from Staffordshire to a wider national and international audience and finally to promote Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent as a place for business to locate, grow and prosper.

Business Support Lead for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, John Berrisford said: “This workshop is a really good opportunity for us to reach more businesses to give them a better understanding of what we can offer.

More information and advice on how to protect businesses is available in the downloadable ‘Resilient Business Software Toolkit’ which can be accessed in the business support service section of www.staffordshirefire.gov.uk. The toolkit is underwritten by leading insurers and is administered by the Fire Protection Association.

John Berrisford added: “We urge businesses to take the necessary steps to ensure that their buildings are as safe as possible from fire, whether that is a fire started accidentally or deliberately. The ‘Resilient Business Software Toolkit’ is a fantastic guide to use and for any organisations that need assistance completing the toolkit, we are more than happy to provide support.”
