Stall-holders are being reminded to book their spot for the popular Stokie Christmas Market.

“We have attracted a wide range of unique stalls to the event over the past couple of years and we are keen for this year to be bigger and better than ever. It is also a good opportunity for stall-holders to promote their goods to a large number of people as the Sunday market will be taking place just behind the community fire station on the same day so the events will complement each other nicely. Stalls only cost £20, which is a very reasonable price, with all tables, chairs and parking included in that fee."

This is the fundraiser’s fourth year and it is hoped it will top the success of previous years by raising even more money.

Last year the event at Hanley Community Fire Station attracted more than 80 stalls selling Christmas crafts and cards, jewellery and handbags as well as traditional treats including filled Oatcakes and ‘Lobby’.

Once again Santa Claus will be on hand to entertain younger visitors and present them with a festive gift.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking people to book a space to ensure they don’t miss out on the seasonal spectacular. It costs just £20 per stall or £40 for a double area.

The event will take place on Sunday, December 3 from 10am until 3pm and entry is free for shoppers.

This year the funds raised from the event will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity and two Leukaemia wards within the Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke Hospital.

Kelvin Chell, Fire Safety Inspecting Officer, who is organising the event, said: “The Stokie Christmas Market has seen a great turn out each year since we launched it in 2014. It is a great event for the whole family and a fantastic way to start the festive season while at the same time raising money for two worthwhile charities.

“We’ve chosen the Leukaemia wards within the Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke Hospital as we currently have two women firefighters from Hanley who are receiving treatment there.

“The cash will be used to buy various entertainment items for the rooms where the patients receive their treatment so they can occupy their time to make it a slightly easier experience.”
