Large fire in Stafford home after possible lightning strike

Firefighters are tackling a serious fire at a home in Stafford caused by a possible lightning strike.

Appliances from Stone, Loggerheads and Hanley are currently at the incident on Chatcull Lane, along with a water carrier from Cheadle. The Service were called at 1.31pm, August 1, after reports that the building was set alight by a bolt of lightning.

The fire has burned through the roof space of the home causing some of the structure to collapse.

The firefighters are using four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to tackle the fire. The incident is being made more difficult to contain as there is a limited water supply in the area and the Service’s water carrier is being refilled to put out the blaze.
