Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are committed to public safety and have a number of events and campaigns to target and engage with our community.

Our latest campaign ‘Young at Heart, Safe at Home’, has been created to target the over 60’s, a group of people that have been identified as being at risk of fire.

Statistics also show that since 2007 a massive 81% of fire deaths in Staffordshire have involved those over the age of 65.

This campaign activity includes:

  • Firefighters visiting flu clinics, libraries and areas where older people are more likely to frequent
  • Safety adverts on pharmacy prescription bags
  • Promotional screens in Doctor’s surgeries
  • The employment of an Older Persons Advocate in South Staffordshire

We are actively involved in Partnership Working and continue to work with Social Care and Health to provide training packages in identifying potential fire risks within the home, aiming to promote, maintain and sustain independent living.
